Mumbai: Monti Fest celebrated at IC church Borivli

Mumbai, 15 September 2011: Canara Konkani Association Borivli (Regd) celebrated Monti Fest in IC Church Borivli West on 11th Sep 2011. The celebrations started at 5.45pm with the children offering flowers to Mother Mary and the Novena at the entrance of the church gate. The New Paddy Corns were blessed and the people moved to the church in a procession.
Newly appointed parish priest Fr.Barthol Barretto celebrated the Konkani mass. Fr.Vincent Barboza, Fr.Melroy Mendonca, Fr.Ashlyn Chand and Fr.Oscar Mendonca assisted him. Inspite of heavy rains the church was jam packed.
A Konkani cultural programme was arranged at the parish hall after the mass. The programme started with the song "Monti Fest" composed by Charles D’Cunha. Hilarious skits were presented by Julius, Charles, Veronica, Clinton and Frank. Cleona, Anissa, Ronita and Lonita presented a dance. Lynet Noronha, Frank D’Souza, Sunitha D’Souza, Julius Pinto, Ashley Coutinho and Clinton presented Konkani songs.
A pure mangalorean accent song by Bombay born two tiny kids "Mariola D’Souza" and "Ramona Lobo" were well appreciated by the audience.
"Robert, Janet and Monis" played a Konkani skit "Mot Mhoji Uzvadai" written by Joseph D’Souza Borivli.
Chairman Albert W. D’Souza, Vice Chairman George D’Souza, Parish Priest Bartholo Barretto were present at the dais.
