Monthi Fest celebration by Emirates Pangalites
Dubai, 16th September 11, The parishioners of Pangalites in U.A.E. celebrated Monti Fest with traditional touch and enthusiasm just we celebrate Monti Fest back at home. A large number of Pangalites assembled at Bangalore Emporium Party Hall. The feast began with a short intro on Monti Fest by emcee of the day Walston D’sa. He described passionately how in the good old days the children in Pangla gathering flowers from all possible sources and how enjoyable the days were and how beautiful it was to shower flowers to Mother Mary on all nine days prior to the grand feast back home in Pangla Parish.
A short prayer session led by Ignatius Alva followed by showering of flowers to mother Mary in front of a beautiful grotto put up along with statue of Infant Mary. Two little children Vidisha and Viola presented a beautiful prayer dance.
The first fruit of the earth new Corn was presented by newly wed couple Vinay and Anita to the visiting senior lady from Pangla Mrs. Cicilia D’Souza. It is a tradition followed by Pangalites that new corn is offered by new daughter-in-law to Mother-in-law. Novem was then distributed to all those who were present.
The President of Emirates Pangalites Vinay Vaz welcomed the gathering and wished happy Monti Fest. The chief guest of the day Joseph Mathias presented a short talk on Monti Fest. He briefly described how the Monti Fest was originated. He also stressed the important of Mother in everybody’s life. He reminded all that it is our duty to respect our mother who toiles for us day and night and many a times lands up in the Old-age home.
The entertainment part included various spot prizes organized by Walstona and a few comedy skits were presented by Clevin, Ashwin, Joel and Vinay and entertained the audience. A wonderful Bollywood dance was presented by Vidisha and Viola and a famous Shala-la-la was sung by Anrika.
“Novem Jevann” was then served on banana leaves and it has variety of dishes including Vorn. Housie-Housie game was held prior to distribution of prizes for all those who participated and won prizes in many spot games. Vote of thanks was proposed by General Secretary Joel Quadras.
