Abu Dhabi: Mangaloreans in Abu Dhabi celebrated ‘Monthi Feast’

Abu Dhabi, 14 September 2011: The Mangaloreans living in Abu Dhabi, celebrated the Feast of Nativity of Mother Mary on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Foodlands Banquet Hall, Abu Dhabi.
Ronald D’Souza welcomed all for the most awaited event which symbolizes solemnity and unity. The programme began with prayer lead by Maxim Pereira followed by the hymns ‘Sakkad Sangatha Mellieam and Morieak Hogolxieam’ with showering colourful flowers to Blessed Mother Mary by the children and some of their parents. The prayer ceremony ended with a thanks giving hymn by Valerian D’Souza. The sugarcanes ordered specially from Mangalore were distributed to all the children. The blessed new crop in milk was served by elderly people first to the child who is having it for the first time and to all the people gathered followed by the delicious festive meal “Noven Jevaann” served in a traditional way on the banana leaves.
After food, the programme continued with many varieties of entertainments like performances, games, spot prizes & the melodious live singing by Ronald D’Souza, Jasmine D’Silva, Wifred Fernandes, Sandra Fernandes, Leena bai, Movin Rasquinha, Maxim Pereira, John Prakash Pinto, Ronald Lobo and many others.
Wilfred D’Souza and Roshan Pinto compered the whole event. On behalf of all the guests they thanked Ronald D’Souza, the key source of this event and all the people who has put their efforts to make this event a beautiful and fruitful one.
