Abu Dhabi: Konkani Prayer Group celebrates Monti Fest

Abu Dhabi, 11 September 2011: Konkani Prayer Group a dedicated youngsters in the service of St. Joseph’s Parish celebrated Monti Fest with great devotion, enthusiasm and fervor. The little kids of KPG even more exited waiting anxiously for showering of flowers to the Mother Mary.

 

The celebration began with a decade of Rosary by Rose Martis followed by Prayer service led by Sharmila D’Souza.

 

Deral Menezes, one of the dynamic leaders of KPG welcomed the guest priests Fr. Lennie (Vicar General) and Fr. Gondalf (Secretary to Bishop).

 

The choir then started Marian hymns and the little children joined showering flowers to the beautiful ly decorated Infant Mary statue followed by cutting of cake by Fr. Lennie and Gondalf and distribution of sweets to the kids.

 

The little Konkani kids sang a few Konkani hymns on the occasion and were applauded in appreciation.

 

Fr. Lennie and Fr. Gandolf spoke on the occasion and wished Happy Feast to the Konkani community of KPG. Parish Priest Fr. Savarimuthu joined the celebration a little later since he was busy with Tamil community celebration and appreciated the hard work and continuous service and dedication of KPG for the parish and wished them and their families a Happy Feast of Nativity.

 

 

Rupert Vaz a strong pillar and one of the leading singer of the KPG welcomed all the guests and members and well wishers that included KCO, PEARLS OF MANGALORE AND CHOIR GROUP.

 

Jacintha and Rohan sang all time Konkani hit “ Havnthujomogkortam “ and a goan number by Rohan, Jacintha and Rupert Vaz: MojaGodachopavm and entertained the crowd.  Conrad, Deral Menezes and Canute presented a hilarious Konkani comedy skit.

 

MC Ruper Vaz also conducted a brief quiz on Monti Fest and winners were presented with gifts.

 

Vote of thanks was proposed by Flavia Crasta.  She especially thanked all the members ok KPG who were involved with preparation of food for more than 400 crowd.  She also thanked Fr. Antony Lopez for his support and prayers all the time for KPG though he was absent due to his other official commitments.

 

A delicious vegetarian meal with blessed Novem in Vorn (Payasam) was served to all members and guests.

 

Prior to the end of the celebration a baila was presented by Rohan, Flavia, Jacintha, Rupert Vas and Sharmila.  The entire celebration was conducted by Ruper Vaz, Music by Rohan and group and Sound System by Joel Crasta& team of Broadway Sound Systems.
