Rotary Interact imparts training to SSLC Students in facing exams in Barkur

Udupi/Barkur, 05 Jan: Rotary Club Barkur unites all Class X students in the surrounding at NJC Barkur to impart training on two crucial issues viz How to face Exam anxieties and what will be after SSLC?

 

Though it was a dull morning with rare rain in winter, Thursday January 4th 2023 at 9.30 am a beeline of Buses carrying students from different High Schools with their caretakers arrived. Since the short stage programme scheduled at 10.00 am, the gap was rightly utilised by enthusiastic youngsters to visit the Computer and Science Laboratories, Library, Indoor games facilities….most of them taken aback to observe and the renovated Junior College had a feast for curious eyes and minds.

 

At sharp 10.00 am brief programme was given a start by invoking Almighty Lord’s Blessings followed by formal welcome by Principal Prof U Kottraswamy, to guests Rotarians, Management and resource personnel while Correspondent Mr Gopala Naik offered roses to all dignitaries on the dais.

 

President of the Barkurian Educational Society B Shantarama Shetty symbolically lighted the traditional oil lamp to inaugurate the programme and called the representatives from near high Schools students to make the best use of this opportunity.

 

Earlier in his key note address Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty the Secretary of BES, appreciated the Rotary for their concern for youth and initiative to arrange a useful workshop at NJC Campus and NHS Old Students Associations, Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Committee, for their voluntary participation and contribution in many ways, in refurbishing the National Campus…..!

 

 

The glittering venue become a witness to honour a old student and a native of Barkur, MR Ashok Kumar, Chaulikere, a recipient of Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for his sacrificial service in Fire Brigade as a brave Fireman. Secretary of Rotary Barkur gave a brief introduction and proud son of soil draped with traditional shawl, garlands fruits and a memento. While accepting the honour in his Alma Mater Ashok Kumar thanked everyone for this rare gesture and recognition.

 

Chief Guest of the event, Rotarian Mr Alwyn Quadrus, Assistant Governor Udupi region, expressed his happiness to be in Barkur in general and to be part of this useful programme in NJC in particular as ‘the twin issues of facing exams and guidance to choose a career at this stage very crucial’ he observed.

 

Mr S Karunakar Shetty, President of the Old Students Association was present and elated to see more 200 SSLC students in NJC for this workshop and assured the Association’s support in such programmes in days to come.

 

Rotarian Seetaram S the President Rotary Barkur, in his presidential address outlined his long association in Rotary activities as he utilised every opportunity to help the poor and promising students in the locality and will continue to do so even in forthcoming years. Most of the Rotary office bearers and members attended the inaugural programme.

 

Mr Maruti the High School Kannada teacher handled the event meticulously while Head Mistress of High School Section Mrs Hemavathy PS proposed vote of thanks. All the teachers taken care of their respective students from far and near were appreciated for their involvement.

 

After the breakfast and tea, the next and the very important part of the day’s event was beautifully conducted by Dr Robert Clive a versatile and seasoned trainer, a professor in Cross land College Brahmmavar with his refreshing slides, talks and presentations. While giving a brief introduction of the recourses person, Admn Coordinator of National Institutions, Mr Archibald Furtado, admitted that the participants must be fortunate to have insightful tips and ideas how to face anxiety especially drove away fear in the forthcoming session.

 

The last session was in the hands of   well known motivator and trainer for adolescents’ Mr Kishore Kumar Vaklady, who was introduced to the audience by Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty and he proved to be one the children longing to listen though the allocated time was grossly crossed its limit.

 

The constructive feedback received from participants truly stunned the organisers who were compelled to declare that such seminars will be held regularly every year.
