Mangaluru, 09 Dec 2023: MasterChef, a culinary dream for aspiring chefs to showcase their signature dishes, has concluded its eighth season in India. The finale, judged by Chef Ranveer Brar, Chef Vikas Khanna, and Chef Pooja Dhingra, saw the victory of Mohammed Aashiq, a 24-year-old Mangaluru native and owner of a juice stall.

Among the 12 passionate chefs, only four made it to the finale-Nambie Marak, Mohammed Aashiq, Dr Rukhsaar Sayeed, and Suraj Thapa. After an intense finale, Mohammed Aashiq emerged as the winner of MasterChef India Season 8, symbolizing his dedication, hard work, and creativity in presenting his dishes.

A resilient and passionate individual, 24-year-old Mohammed Aashiq hails from the coastal town of Mangaluru. His inspiring story has captured the hearts of the audience. Initially aspiring to become a hotel manager, budgetary constraints led him to change course. Undeterred by challenges, he turned his love for food into a business and opened his own juice bar, showcasing his artistic abilities through original dishes that delighted customers.

Aashiq, a familiar face from a previous season, demonstrated resilience by using his disqualification as motivation to return to the MasterChef India kitchen and showcase his culinary skills.

Chef Ranveer Brar set a challenging task called the ‘Black Apron Challenge,’ which marked the first elimination round for the season. Mohammad Aashiq, one of the eight contestants in this nerve-wracking battle, showcased his culinary prowess.

Chef Ranveer Brar explained that the Black Apron challenge aimed to expand the home cooks’ culinary horizons, testing their creativity and adaptability to unusual culinary requirements. Mohammad Aashiq demonstrated his skills and even assisted a fellow contestant, Kaushalya, in understanding the taste of her vegetarian dish, showcasing camaraderie and expertise in the culinary field.
