Rs 70.02 lac worth smuggled gold seized at Mangaluru International Airport

Mangaluru, 20 Nov 2023: Customs officials at the international airport in the city confiscated gold worth Rs 70.02 lac that was being transported from Dubai through passengers in three separate incidents.

 

 

On November 9 and 13, two passengers who arrived on Indigo and Air India Express flights respectively from Dubai were carrying 322 grams of gold worth Rs 18,17,718 in beading rods of trolley bag, rhodium-plated watch, ball point pen, hair trimmer, stainless steel wool scrubber and coins.

 

In another incident, a passenger who arrived from Dubai via Air India Express on November 18 was found carrying 857 gram 24 Carat gold worth Rs 5184850 in car speakers, AirPods and power adapters.

 

All three people were arrested by the customs officials and further inquiry is in progress.
