Three Days long Faith Formation Camp for Udupi Deanery inaugurated at St. Lawrence Church, Moodubel

Udupi/M’Belle, 17 Oct 2023: A three days long Faith Formation Camp for 8th, 9th and 10th standard Catholic students was inaugurated  at the Parish Hall on Monday, 16 October 2023. Students from 9 parishes belonging to the Udupi Deanery participated in the camp. These parishes are: Moodubelle, Kuntlanagar, Katapady, Udupi, Udyavara, Perampalli, Yermal, Kalmady and Manipal. The camp was inaugurated by Fr. Charles Menezes, Dean of Udupi Deanery and Director of the Faith Formation Camp was the chief guest.

 

Prior to the inauguration of the Faith Formation Camp, the guests were ushered to the stage with the dance by the students accompanied by the Goan welcome song and representatives of different parishes carrying banners of their parishes and colourful canopies.

 

Following the prayers service the Faith Formation Camp was formally inaugurated by Fr. Charles Menezes along with other guests on the dais by lighting the lamp. The guests included Fr. George D’Souza and Fr. Pradeep Cardoza from Moodubelle, Fr. Roy Lobo from Udupi, Fr. Rajesh Prasanna from Katapadi, Fr. Bonaventure from the Holy Cross Formation House, Katapadi, Fr. Leo D’Souza from Udyavar, Fr. Wilson D’Souza from Kuntalnagar, Br. Philip Noronha-Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School, Moodubelle, Mrs. Lavina Mathias-Animator of the Camp and Alexan Baretto-Representative of 10th Standard from St. Lawrence EM High School, Moodubelle.

 

In his message, Fr. Charles Menezes said that the Faith Formation Camp is organized for the students to help them to understand and deepen their faith. Students should take the camp seriously as it helps them to build their future spiritually which is very important to shape their life in a successful manner.

 

 

Fr. Charles Menezes unveiled the banner containing the  Theme Song of the camp. Fr. George D’Souza unveiled the banner containing the names of the 9 parishes included in the Udupi Deanery.

 

Students from different parishes presented dances representing the Theme Song.

 

Following the vote of thanks, rules and regulations were readout to the students.

 

The students were divided class-wise : 8th Standard for Jeevan Amrut Camp 9th Standard for Jeevan Disha Camp and 10th Standard for Jeevan Jyothi Camp.

 

The topics covered during this three days-long camp are: Vocation, Social Evil and Stress, Konkani Culture, Me and My Environment, Faith: Knowing and Living, Commandments and Church and Diocese.

 

The Resource Persons are: Fr. Louis D’Sa, Sr, Cecilia, Fr. Charles Menezes, Fr. Anil D’Souza, Fr. Anil Kiran,SVD, Ms. Catherine and Mr. Joseph Machado.

 

The Camp Coordinator is Fr. Ravi Rajesh Serrao (OFM Cap) from Perampalli.
