Lions District Governor Pays Official Visit to Lions Club, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 14 Mar 2023: Lions District 317C Governor MJF Ln.M.K.Bhat paid official visit to the Lions Club, Moodubelle on Monday, 13 March 2023 at 11 am. Lions Clubs Mudarangadi and Ranganapalke also joined during this official visit.

 

Following the formal Board of Directors Meeting with the office bearers of the three clubs, the main stage programme commenced at 11.30 am. Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino presided over the programme. Other dignitaries on the dais included Ln. M.K. Bhat, Rev. Fr. George D’Souza-Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Dr. Krishna Prasad-Director of Prasad Netralaya, Udupi, Ln. Elias D’Souza-Region Chairman, Ln. Anil D’Souza-Zone Chairman, Ln. J.B. D’Souza-President of the Lions Club, Mudarangadi, Ln. John Baptist D’Souza-President of the Lions Club, Ranganapalke, Ln. Devadas Hebbar-Secretary of the Lions Club, Moodubelle and Leo Ethan Martis-President of the Leo Club, Moodubelle.

 

Following the prayer and welcome dance by the students of Belel Church Aided Higher Primary School, Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino welcomed the gathering.

 

On this occasion Dr. Krishna Prasad was honoured by the dignitaries on the dais. Ln. Joseph Martis introduced Dr. Krishna Prasad. During the 25 years of the Lions Club, Moodubelle Dr. Krishna Prasad was instrumental in organizing annual free eye check-up camps for the last 23 years.

 

In his message, Dr. Krishna Prasad appreciated the good work done by the Lions Club, Moodubelle especially under the leadership  of  Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino who has just completed 90 years. He wished Commodore good health and many more years of service to the society.

 

The secretaries of all the three clubs presented the report of their activities during the last Lionistic year.

 

 

Rev. Fr. George D’Souza sponsored by Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino was inducted as the new member of the Lions Club, Moodubelle by Governor Ln. Dr. M.K. Bhat. Ln. Gerald Fernandes introduced Rev. Fr. George D’Souza.

 

Following his induction into the Lions Club, Moodubelle Rev. fr. George D’Souza expressed his happiness to be a part of the service organization. He said that a person should not add years to his life but add life to the years that he lives.

 

Ln. Dr. M.K. Bhat in his address appreciated the service activities done by the Lions Club, Moodubelle especially on the occasion of the celebration of the Silver Jubilee of the club by donating a school bus. Ln. Dr. M.K.Bhat felicitated all the dignitaries on the dais by offering them shawls.

 

Ln. Elias Lobo-Treasurer of the Lions Club, Moodubelle read the appreciation resolution of the Governor which was presented to him.

 

11 March being the 90th Birthday of Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino the occasion was celebrated by cutting the cake and wishing Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino a long healthy, happy and fruitful life.

 

Ln. Valerian Noronha proposed the vote of thanks. Ln. Deavadas Hebbar compered the programme.

 

Prior to his official visit  to the Lions Club, Moodubelle, Ln. M.K. Bhat visited the residence of Ln. Commodore Jeerome Castelino to see his ailing wife Mrs. Rose Celine Castelino. Later, he also visited the residence of the senior Charter member Ln. Bernanrd D’Souza whom he honoured with shawl and memento as he was unable to attend the Silver Jubilee function.
