St. John Campus is playing a Big Role in providing the education to the rural and tribal population

Mumbai, 04 Mar 2023: St. John Technical and Education Campus is playing a big role in providing education to the students of Palghar district. Most of the industrial development is happening in Palghar. This District is potential for all round development, said Mr. Govind Maruti  Bodke, Palghar District Collector.

 

He was the Chief Guest of “Laghuswapna” a flagship event of Dept. of Master of Management Studies of St. John College of Engineering and Management Palghar. While extending a welcome to the Industrials to Palghar District he said that with proposed bullet train having two stations in Palghar Dist there will be overall development of the district at all levels. He thanked Trustees of St. John Campus for providing the education from KG to PG and for establishing the Campus way back in 2007.

 

The programme started with Saraswati Vandana and lighting the lamp followed by welcome speech by the Chairman of Aldel Education Trust Mr. Albert W D’Souza.

 

 

While welcoming the guests, Mr. Albert W D’Souza congratulated MMS Department for organising the event. He said Campus is rendering quality education in the rural district through 25 multidisciplinary courses and having 6000 students and 450 staff members. In this around 4500 students are getting technical, higher and professional education. He said as per the New Education Policy the Campus is planning and progressing for Autonomy and Deemed University. Recently the Campus has tied up with the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education in order to provide opportunities for our students to pursue Higher Education in United States.

 

According to him Palghar is a happening place. With Local train connect, newly coming up Mumbai Baroda highway, Nasik Dahanu train and Bullet train, the district will going for lot of developments in the future. He said there are around 40000 MSME units are located from Dhanu to Vapi. Today’s debate & deliberations are going to help a lot to achieve the dream of small scale industries. Industry institute connect is most important without out which progress not possible.

 

One of the Guest of Honour Dr. Pankaj Pawar, Chief Executive Officer Palghar Nagar Parishad expressed his happiness towards the International level of education being provided by the Campus. He said Sustainability of MSME is very important since it is one of the Potential Sector which is going to give potential employment to the youth.

 

The other Guest of Honour Dr. Digambar Jaikishan Zawar Group Chairman of Kamla Group of Companies said for next 50 years the average age of Indian population is going to remain one of the lowest and India will be one of the fastest growing economy. He explained various initiatives taken by the government to support the MSME, and said the sustainability will depends on how we make best use of these initiatives by ensuring compliance.

 

There was also a panel discussion to discuss how the MSMEs can be sustainable in the changing times. There were five panellists namely

Mr. Arun Peter Vaz from Arun P Vaz & Co. Chartered Accountants.

Mr. Alan Castelino - Social Entrepreneur and Renowned Management Professional

Mr. Gopalkrishna Samaga - Deputy General Manager and Regional Head of Karnataka Bank

Mr. Dilip Shah - from Mahavir Plastics

Mr. Jayesh Dedhia – from Urvashi Industries who carried out the penal discussion.

Mr. GVS Kumar – India Head, VBHC Value Homes Pvt. Ltd moderated the penal discussion.

 

Useful insights shared by the panel members which was followed by a question-and-answer round between the panellists and industrialists.

 

Mrs. Elvina D’Souza Secretary of Aldel Education Trust, Mrs. Elaine D’Souza Secretary, Mr. Aldridge D’Souza member of the Trust, Dr. Savita J. Tauro, Deputy Campus Director and Principal, St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research  were present.

 

Mr. Nilkanth Chaudhary, President, Laghu Udyog Bharti, Boisar Chapter Mr. Elongovan Mudaliar, President Tarapur Management Association, Mr. Velji Gogri, TIMA President and other renowned Industrialists were present during the event.

 

Dr. Reuben Buthello and Miss. Pallavi Srivastava performed Master of Ceremony. Dr. Balamurugan gave the vote of thanks. All the student representatives, teaching and non-teaching staff of St. John of Enginnering & Management MMS Division worked for the success of this seminar. Dr. Gopal V Mulgund, Principal of St. John College of Engineering & Management, Dr. Brijbandhu Das, Principal of St. John College of Humanities & Sciences, Sister Veena Monteiro Principal of St. John International School, Mrs. Suchita Gharat Principal of St. John Junior College Mr. Satheesh Shetty General Manager of the Campus, Mr. Sudheer Babu, HR Manager were present for the event. Around 83 Industry representatives attended the program representing 61 Companies. It was also attended by 128 post graduate and under graduate students. The event concluded with National Anthem.
