Parichaya Open Air ‘Bayalu Ranga Mandira-Prakruti’ Inaugurated at Pamboor

Udupi/Pamboor 13 Feb 2023: The long standing dream of the Trustees and members of  the cultural organization ‘Parichaya’ established in 2012 at Pamboor was realized on Sunday, 12 February 2023 at 6.30 am when Parichaya Open Air ‘Bayalu Ranga Mandira-Prakruti’ was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests and theatre-loving audience. The inauguration was followed by the Kannada play ‘Hakki Kathe’ on the first day of the week-long ‘Parichaya Rashtriya Roangotsava 2023’.

 

Parichaya Open Air ‘Bayalu Ranga Mandira-Prakruti’ is set up on the piece of land donated by Mrs. Mary Noronha, mother of Prakash Noronha, Secretary of Parichaya by the side of the Pamboor-Moodubelle road aesthetically designed and executed by famous artist Wilson Souza Kayyar.

 

The inaugural programme was presided over by Dr. Vincent Alva-Honorary President of Parichaya and Principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur. Other dignitaries on the dais included: Prasanna H(IAS)-Chief Executive Officer of Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Fr. Denis D’Sa-Parish Priest of At. Anne’s Church, Thottam-Chief Guest, Fr. Henry Mascarenhas-Parish Priest of the Holy Cross Church, Pamboor, Eric Ozariao-Gurkar of Maand Sobhann, Mangalore, Shridhar Moorthy-retired lecturer of St. Mary’s PU Collegee, Shirva and Anil D’Sa-President of Parichaya.

 

In his introductory remarks Prakash Noronha narrated the journey of Parichaya for the last 11 years and the circumstances that led to the establishment of Parichaya Open Air ‘Bayalu Ranga Mandira-Prakruti’.

 

 

In his inaugural address, Prasanna H said that this was the first occasion that he attended programme of a private organization. When Wilson Kayyar whom he knew since along invited him for the inauguration of Parichaya Open Air ‘Bayalu Ranga Mandira-Prakruti’ he readily agreed as he has been an ardent admirer of native culture and promoter. He expressed happiness to be present along with his family to be part of the programme and view the first play of the weeklong Parichaya Rashtriya Rangotsava 2023.

 

Fr. Henry Mascarenhas in his benedictory address prayed for God’s grace and blessings on all  the trustees and members of Parichaya and all the artists and actors who would make their presentations in the open air theatre.

 

Speaking on this occasion Eric Ozario complimented Parichaya for promoting arts and culture in different languages while Maand Sobhann has ben promoting Konkani theatre and culture. He hoped that he would be invited in the near future to perform on the stage of Parichaya Open Air ‘Bayalu Ranga Mandira-Prakruti’.

 

Prof. Sridhar Moorthy in his speech said that he has been associated with Parichyaya since its inception in 2012 and said that Parichaya has been true to its aims and objectives and never deviated from promoting classical music and plays in different languages.

 

On this occasion, Wilson Souza Kayyar, the designer of the Parichaya Open Air ‘Bayalu Ranga Mandira-Prakruti’ was honoured.

 

 

In his keynote address, Fr. Denis D’Sa appreciated the fact that the programme started exactly at 6.30 pm and stressed on the virtue of punctuality. He further said that the inauguration of Parichaya Open Air ‘Bayalu Ranga Mandira-Prakruti’ is a red letter day in the history of Parichaya. Fr. Denis D’Sa said that investment in business brings quick returns, however, investment in promoting culture and arts does not bring in easy returns, But in the long run its returns will be found in society that would be more knowledgeable, understanding and tolerant. While the media does not reflect the reality of the times, experimental plays in different languages take on the role of questioning and reflecting the reality that exists in the society and country.

 

In his presidential message Dr. Vincent Alva said that the setting up of Parichaya Open Air ‘Bayalu Ranga Mandira-Prakruti’ has been an herculean task involving a lot of expenditure. He hoped that the people who appreciate theatre art and culture would come forward to extend their helping hand in their endeavor.

 

Prakash Noronha welcomed the guests and audience and compered the programme and Mrs. Violet Castelino proposed the vote of thanks.

 

Following the inaugural function the first of the week-long plays in Kannada language "Hakki Kathe" was staged by Rangaroopa Thetare Group from Shimogga.
