Archbishop Ignatius Paul Pinto Passes away

Bengaluru, 08 Feb 2023: Archbishop Ignatius Paul Pinto, (98) Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore, India passed away around 1.30 am on 8th Feb at the Senior Citizens’ Home of the Little Sisters of the Poor at Richmond Town, Bangalore.

 

 

He was Born on 18 May 1925, Bantwal. Ordained Priest on 24 August 1952. Archbishop of Bangalore Alphonsus Mathias ordained him Bishop of Shimoga, India, 31 January 1989 at S. Coeur, Cathedral, Simoga, Diocese of Shimoga. Appointed Archbishop of Bangalore, India on 10 September 1998. He retired from his active episcopal ministry on 22 July 2004. He was a priest for 70 years, a Bishop for 34 years.
