Mount Rosary Church Santhekatte – Kallianpur celebrates Titular Feast

Udupi, 07 Oct 2022: The parishioners and relatives assembled in large number to thank Almighty Lord through their patroness, Mother of Holy Rosary on Friday, at 10.30 am. V Rev Fr Clement Mascarenhas the Vicar of Christ the King Church and dean of Karkala was the main celebrant along with priests of the Kallianpur varado, native born and guest priests from the neighbouring parishes.

 

 

As the celebrants entered the church in a colourful procession led the Sunshine Brass band, the parish choir took charge to sing the entrance him. This year, the responsibility of the liturgy of the festal Holy Mass was entrusted to youth – ICYM & YCS, who made it very lively, meaningful and devotional.

 

While breaking the word of God, Fr Clement, emphasised on the theme chosen for the occasion – “do whatever He tells you to do….” He continued, ‘though there were very few references of Jesus Mother in the Holy Scriptures, however wherever she was referred it is the continuation of her first acceptance, simplicity and obedience’ Behold, I am the handmaid of Lord, May it be done to me according to your word…….’ which epitomes Mother Mary’s life in and with Christ.

 

 

While recalling his days in this Church way back in 1983-85, he expressed happiness to see the visible progress of the parish, miracles do happening….. ‘Showing concern and taking care of the neighbour, sharing a part of which we have with the less fortunate ones are few virtues akin to a true Christian life’, he told.

 

To conclude the proceedings, Parish priest Rev Dr Roque DSouza, extended festal greetings to all parishioners present, those at home and abroad. He briefly introduced the priests on the altar and as a token of love and gratitude’s, Assistant Parish Priest Fr Rolwyn Fernandes presented bouquet to V. Rev Fr Clement Muscarenhas and V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, the Rector of the Milagres Cathedral and Vicar vara of the Kallianpur deanery. He also thanked all the parishioners, office bearers and members of Parish Pastoral Council, Sisters of the Goretti Convent, the Gurkars, all pious associations, the choir and all others for their whole hearted support and cooperation.

 

The Pirjent family of Mr Leo C Carnelio was specially honoured on this occasion with a decorated candle as a token of appreciation and thanks for their generous contribution towards the expenses who also arranged cold drinks and snacks for all who gathered, after the Holy Mass.
