Mumbai: St Peter’s Association Barkoor celebrates feast of patron saint after Covid-19

Mumbai, 04 Jul 2022: St Peter’s Association Barkoor (Mumbai) celebrated the feast of their patron saint at Vincent Pallotti church, Marol, Andheri (East), here on Sunday July 3.
Fr Dr Ivan D’Almeida Barkoor SFX, Professor of theology and Indian Christian spirituality celebrated the Thanksgiving Mass in honor of patron St Peter.
Later, a brief function was held presided by Association president Boniface Sequeira.
Regi Carvalho (Buthello Motors), Wilfred D’Souza Brahmavar (Radiant) and silver jubilee celebration committee president Ida Roche were the chief guests of the occasion.
The annual scholarships were distributed to the talented children of Association members.
In his presidential address, Boniface said that unity leads to cordial living. It helps each other to tide over the hard times and get emotional support. One cannot live alone because being in touch with native-folks in the ever growing metropolis, one can get mutual advice in case of any issues in the families that would strengthen the bond among them. Meanwhile, Covid-19 has caused a lot of adversities in families and hope that should not happen in the future.
Earlier to Thanksgiving Mass, the annual general body meeting of Association was held attended by past president Ivan Rebello, vice president Antony Gonsalves, secretary Eric Carvalho, joint secretary Arthur Mendonca, treasurer John Gonsalves, Wilfred Sequeira, Timothy D’Souza, Vincent Furtado, Antony Gonsalves and Joseph D’Almeida.
The elections for the new office bearers for the term 2022-23 was held.
Boniface Sequeira reelected as president, Wilfred Sequeira and Eric Carvalho (vice presidents), Joseph D’Almeida (joint secretary), Timothy D’Souza (internal auditor), Jolvin Furtado (PRO) and Ivan Rebello, Vincent from US, John Gonsalves (Mangaluru), Archibald Gonsalves (Sultanate of Oman) were elected as event organizers.
The condolences were offered for the demise of Association former presidents Felix Barnes and Richard Carvalho, veteran members Ivan Rebello, Johnson Martis and others.
The children presented variety cultural shows as part of entertainment that was compered by Kiran Carvalho.
Joylus Fernandes compered the programme. Arthur Mendonca welcomed the gathering and proposed vote of thanks.
