ICYM Mount Rosary Kallianpur Organizes ’Rosary Cricket Cup – 2021’

Udupi, 12 Oct 2021: Under the initiatives and leadership of ICYM Mount Rosary Unit, much awaited Kallianpur Deanery level Cricket Tournament was held on 10th October, 2021.

 

Almost all teams (8 out of 9), Sastan, Brahmmavar, Petri, Kollalgiri, Milagres, Mount Rosary, Kemmannu, Thottam of the Varado participated in the event with their respective teams, which was started at 1.30 pm in the adjoining ground. The inaugural match was given a start with home team Mount Rosary versus St Theresa Church Kemmannu team, by our Parish Priest Rev Dr Leslie C DSouza by cutting the ribbon with the office bearers of the Pastoral Council. Ronald Saldanha and Santhosh Carnelio and wished the tournament a great success…..!

 

During the course of the 3 to 4 hours of the grand display of tact and talent by the youth, the Assistant parish priests from the Cathedral Fr Joy Andrade and Varado ICYM Director Fr Anil Castelino spent time with the enthusiastic spectators to encourage youngsters.

 

’Life is like Cricket Take Infinite Wickets and Face the Pace to Win the Race’ as the event ended up with finals which was between Milagres Parish and Thottam Parish.

 

It was rightly a day to relax, rejoice and refresh to all the parishioners to pat and encourage both home team and best performing teams in qualifying round and Semi’s and tooth biting Finals….wherein the youngsters exhibited their total involvement and dedication with sportive spirit flying high…..to snatch the Trophy….

 

We congratulate the champions ICYM Milagres Cathedral with glittering Rosary Cricket CUP 2021, who convincingly defeated St Ann Church Team Thottam, who too gave its best to be very close in the best fought finals.

 

 

Rev Fr Charles Menezes, Dean and Vicar of Udupi Church and Diocesan Director ICYM was the Chief Guest during prize distribution and in his address lauded the coming together, playing with a sportive spirit and giving their best on the ground…. Rev Dr Leslie C DSouza the parish Priest of Mount Rosary too spoke on this occasion and expressed his satisfaction and happiness to be part of this lively event in this parish ground.

 

Dean and Rector of Milagres Cathedral V Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca, Our parish priest Rev Dr. Leslie C DSouza, Fr Joy Andrade, Fr Steven Fernandes, Fr Jerald S DMello, Vice President of Pastoral Council Baptist Dias, Animator of ICYM Jason Dias were present on this occasion.

 

Claton DSouza aptly handled the proceedings and to begin the colourful prize distribution ceremony. President of ICYM Mount Rosary Church Remus Saldanha, welcomed all the gathering, for their support and encouragement throughout the tournament and Ashley DSouza proposed vote of thanks to each and everyone for making the event a great grand success.

 

While Jevita DSilva come forward and announced the Winners name the crowed erupt with joy and jubilation as the captain and team Milagres lifted the glittering Trophy.
