Udupi: Annual Parish Feast of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle Celebrated

Udupi/M’Belle, 06 Jan 2021: The Annual Parish Feast of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle was celebrated on Wednesday, 6 January 2021 with devotion though there was no grandeur that has been associated with the traditional celebration of Annual Feasts due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

 

The proceedings of the Annual Parish Feast commenced with the distribution of Candles of Honour at 9.30 am. While the Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council Charles Quadros read the names of the donors and sponsors, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest of the church distributed the candles.

 

The solemn feast mass started at 10 am. Fr. Charles Menezes, native of Moodubelle and presently the Parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi was the chief celebrant assisted by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Fr. Jithesh Castelino, Dr. Lawrence D’Souza, Fr. Gregory D’Souza and Fr. Lawrence Noronha.

 

In his homily, elaborating the theme of the Annual Feast “By Following the Example of St. Lawrence, Let Us Build Faithful Parish Family”, Fr. Charles Menezes through various examples from the readings of the day stressed upon the role that each and every individual can play in building a community based on service. He further said that every individual is endowed with different talents which can be utilized to serve the society with a spirit of service that was exemplified by St. Lawrence through his life and service to the poor and needy.

 

 

At the end of the solemn feast mass, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas conveyed the greetings of the feast to all parishioners and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the Annual Parish Feast.

 

The choir, well trained by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas enhanced the festive atmosphere by their melodious singing.
