Udupi: Lawyer is accused for cheating his client

Udupi, 25 June 2011: A case is registered in Udupi City Police Station that the lawyer who was appointed to get the justice has done injustice by cheating. Ramachandra Acharya a resident of Shivamoga Miggan Hospital Doctor’s colony has got cheated and registered the complain.
 

Ramachandra Acharya had received 14.40 acre land from his mother under gift deed and on a dispute on this land he had filed a case in Udupi civil court and for this he had appointed a lawyer Mohamed Iqbal. On this case issue Ramachandra was frequently visiting the lawyers office. Recently the lawyer told Ramachandra not to come to his office and if he come the police might arrest him or make attachment on his property. Ramachandra believed this and followed the lawyers instructions. Besides this the lawyer took Ramachandra’s signatures on blank papers and on May 25 the lawyer told him to bring the gift deed documents and accordingly Ramachandra handed over the same to lawyer.
 
After few days when Ramachandra asked for the documents back, the lawyer told him that they were stolen. Later Ramachandra Acharya made a gift settlement of this disputed land to his wife and son. When he submitted application to collect the agreement papers, it was discovered that this land has been sold to Munir, Fizal Akbar Ali Mohamed Ashraf, Ziad Ahmed, Zunaid Ahmed, Mohamed Husaid, Dmodar Shetty, Raghvendra Acharya, Krishna Shetty, Prthima K. and Umesh Shetty for a total amount of 1.29 crores.
 
Ramachandra Acharya has complained to the Udupi City Police Station that the lawyer has taken his signatures on the blank papers and from this he has prepared power of attorney and has sold the land by cheating and accordingly the case has been registered.
