Udupi: Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo lauds social welfare activities of diocesan Catholic Sabha

Udupi, 26 Oct 2020: Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh ® has been striving for betterment of community through collective efforts, said Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese.

 

Bishop Dr Lobo was speaking after inaugurating annual general meeting of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh at Our Lady of Sorrows parish hall, here on Sunday October 25.

 

Catholic Sabha that was established in the newly-formed Udupi diocese 8 years ago set an example in the nation through its social welfare activities. It has served the society by welfare activities during the strict Covid-19 lockdown, said Dr Lobo.

 

 

Karnataka State Cashew Producers Association president Santosh D’Silva Karkala was the chief guest lauded the social welfare activities of Catholic Sabha. Meanwhile, he appealed the community to strive to adorn top jobs in the country.

 

Francis Danati Memorial Literary Award was conferred to writer Richard Danti. 

 

The prizes were distributed to the winners of Denis D’Silva Memorial Articles Award.

 

Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh 2020-21 Directory was released during the programme.

 

The units that sold highest donation coupons of Catholic Sabha bulletin ‘Amcho Sandesh’ were also honored on the same occasion.

 

Catholic Sabha president Robert Menezes presided the programme.

 

The deputy general secretary Gregory P K D’Souza presented the annual report, while secretary Santosh Cornelio presented annual accounts.  Treasurer Gerald Rodrigues was present.

 

 

Henry Menezes presented report of Manasa Rehabilitation Center; Alice Rodrigues presented report of Sashakt Community Trust.

 

Catholic Sabha spiritual director Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, past president Alwyn Quadros, designated president Mary D’Souza, Sashakt Community Trust convener Walter Cyril Pinto, Catholic Sabha deanery presidents Mabel D’Souza Kundapura, Rosy Baretto Kallianpur, Solomon Alvares Karkala, Ida Cornelio Shirva, Ronald D’Almeida Udupi were present.

 

Robert Menezes welcomed the gathering. Santosh Cornelio proposed vote of thanks. Edward Larsen D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.
