Mangaluru: 10 WB students of Govt 1st Grade College stuck in Covid-19 lockdown reach hometowns

Mangaluru, 24 Jun 2020: Ten students who were studying II BSW at Government First Grade College, Car Street, here and are unable to go to their hometowns in Siliguri district of West Bengal (WB) amid Covid-19 nationwide lockdown have reached their natives by flight from Bengaluru, on June 19.
These students who are hailing from West Bengal were stuck in Mangaluru owing to Covid-19 lockdown unable to reach their hometowns.
The College principal Prof Rajashekar Hebbar, lecturers and local donors helped the distressed students during the lockdown by providing accommodation, food and other basic amenities.
A certain parent of a student – Tarak contacted Air Asia authority who booked their tickets on 50 percent discounts, while the principal and West Bengal NGO contributed 25 percent towards their airfare.
Prof Hebbar paid for bus fares from Mangaluru – Bengaluru in order to board the Air Asia flight to Siliguri, WB.
Meanwhile, the College lecturer Nagendra Acharya co-ordinated the health checks of students and issuance of health certificates.
