Hubballi, 05 Jun 2020: Hubballi Railway Junction is all set to get the world’s longest railway platform. SWR has planned a 1,400-metre-long platform as part of the ongoing yard remodelling work at Hubballi Junction.

SWR in a tweet said,” Indian Railways, like India, holds the distinction of being home to many World records, such as World’s oldest serving locomotive (Fairy Queen) World’s biggest Route Relay Interlocking (New Delhi) etc.One more such record is that of longest platform#India”

At present, Gorakhpur Junction, in Uttar Pradesh, has the longest railway platform in the world. It is 1,366.33 metres long (4,483 feet). Gorakhpur is the headquarters of the North Eastern Railway.

Along with the longest platform, total number of platforms at Hubballi Station will also be increased from 5 to 8.
