Mangaluru: Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial Awards conferred to 3 Schools

Mangaluru, 04 Mar: Alva’s Kannada Medium High School, Puttige was conferred the Dr. Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial Best School Award 2020 in a glittering Award Ceremony held at the KS Hegde Auditorium, Nitte University Campus, here on Tuesday, March 3. The prize consisted of a plaque and cash prize of Rs 15 lac.
Vivekananda High School, Tenkila received the second prize of Rs 10 lac.
Navajeevan Higher Secondary School, Perdala, Kasargod district won a special prize of Rs 3 lac.
Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Karnataka former Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde presented the awards to the winners.
The chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University) Vinay Hegde presided the programme.
Pro chancellors Dr Shantaram Shetty and vice chancellor Vishal Hegde, pro vice chancellor Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, pro vice chancellor Dr S Moodithaya and registrar Dr Alka Kulkarni were present on the occasion.
The Dr Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial Best School Awards were constituted in 2016 with the objective of recognizing rural Kannada medium schools excelling in all spheres of education. Schools in 3 districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod were evaluated on the performance of students in SSLC examinations, achievements in sports, cultural activities, school infrastructure and innovative educational practices.
The Award Committee was headed by Justice N Santosh Hegde, former judge of Supreme Court of India and Karnataka former Lokayukta and included representatives of the district offices of public instruction/education.
