Navodaya Mithra Mandali-Dendoorkatte celebrates annual day

Moodubelle, 21 February 2010: The Navodaya Mithra Mandali of Dendoorkatte, Manipura celebrated it’s 7th Annual Day on Friday, 19thFebruary 2010 with enthusiasm and fun. The programme of the annual day started in the morning at 8.30 am with the hoisting of the flag by Mr. Somayya Shetty, the retired teacher. Those people who were present for the morning function were treated to sweets sponsored by Mr. Shankar Pai. Thereafter, there were various competitions for children, youth and adults.
The evening programme began at 7pm. Dr. Krishnaraj Bhat of Shrinidhi Medicals, Udupi presided ove the function. Mr. Ashok Kamath, Headmaster of the Government High School, Volakadu, Udupi and Mrs. Chandravati K. Kotian, President of the Manipura Grama Panchayat were the guests of honour.
Following the prayer, Mr. Krishnaraja Acharya welcomed the guests and the the assembled people. Mr. Prasad read the annual repport in which he highlighted the achievements of the Navodaya Mithra Mandali. During the past year the orgainsation had celebrated the national festivals such as the Independence Day and Republic Day. It also had conducted medical camp whose advanatage was taken by nearly 600 peolpe.
Prizes for those who had successfully taken part in the competitions were distributed by the dignitaries on the dais. In his presidential address, Dr. Krishnaraj Bhat made an appeal to the youth to become the builders of modern India and shun all types of prejudices that would weaken the country. He pointed out the dangers that threaten the Indian nation such as terrorism and Naxalism.
At the end of the function there was veriety entertainment programme presented by the children. A Tulu Play “Kode, Ini and Elle”, directed by Mr. Viajayakumar Kodialbail was enacted which was enjoyed and appreciated by the entire audience.
The Navodaya Mithra Mandali of Dendoorkatte, Manipura was founded in 2001 with Mr. Sandeep Shetty as the founder President to unite the youth and to channelize their energies in a constructive manner. Since then, the Navodaya Mithra Mandali has been doing a lot of good work in social service. The present Prtesident of the Navodaya Mithra Mandali is Mr. Narasimha Shenoy.
