Nitte Announces Rural Kannada School Award Winners

Mangaluru, 23 Feb: Nitte Education Trust and Nitte (Deemed to be University) have announced the winners of the Dr Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial Best school Awards for the year 2020.
Alva’s Kannada Medium High School, Puttige stands First and will receive the Best Rural Kannada Medium School in Daskhina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod Districts with a cash prize of Rs 15 lac. Vivekananda High School, Tenkila stands Second in the category and will receive cash prize of Rs 10 lac. Navajeevan Higher Secondary School, Perdala has been selected for a Special Prize of Rs 3 lac, the best among the rural Kannada medium schools in Kasargod District.
The Dr Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial Best School Awards were constituted in 2016 with the objective of recognizing rural Kannada medium schools excelling in all spheres of education. Schools are evaluated on the performance of students in SSLC examinations, achievements in sports, cultural and other extracurricular activities and innovative practices in school education. For the year 2019-20, shortlisted schools of three districts – Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod were visited and assessed by a team of Educationists. The Award Committee was headed by Justice N Santosh Hegde, former judge of Supreme Court of India and former Lokayukta of Karnataka and included representatives of the District Offices of Public instruction/Education.
The prizes will be awarded in a function to be held at KL S Hegde Auditorium, Deralakatte, here on March 5 at 11.00am.
Dr H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) will be the chief guest, Justice N Santhosh Hegde and Dr Shantharam Shetty will be the guests of honour and N Vinaya Hegde, chairman, Nitte Education Trust will preside over the Award Ceremony.
