Mangaluru: Inspiring movies are need of hour – Dr Uday Kumar

Mangaluru, 27 Jan: ‘The movies of past century were inspiring to change course of life for good. Meanwhile, such movies are becoming rarer in these present times, Dr Uday Kumar, principal of University College.
Dr Kumar was speaking during screening of patriotic movies at University College, here on Monday, January 27. It was jointly organized by information and PR department, Karnataka Films Academy, journalism department/NSS unit of University College.
The struggles, challenges and ideals of B R Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi are inspiring. Richard Attenborough directed movie Gandhi and Dr Jabbar Patel directed movie B R Ambedkar that will be cherished by the viewers. Meanwhile, the recent movies are focusing on entertaining the viewers, said Dr Kumar. He urged the students to view both historical films to follow their ideals to contribute in nation building.
DK district working journalists Association president Srinivas Nayak Indaje expressed regret over youth not taking interest in movies that are historical. He urged the youth to view historical movies to get inspiration.
The district information officer B A Khadersha delivered preliminary address. The journalism lecturer Soumya, NSS project officer Gayatri, journalism students, HoDs of different departments, other students were present.
