Qatar: ICBF holds 40th Free Mega Medical Camp for Workers

Doha/Qatar, 03 Dec: Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), under the aegis of Embassy of India, Qatar organized its 40th Mega Medical Camp for low paid workers at Medical Commission Premises, Abu-Hamour on Friday, November 29 from 07.30am to 12.30pm. The camp was organized in collaboration with Qatar Ministry of Public Health and Hamad Hospital.

 

The Ambassador of India to Qatar P Kumaran inaugurated the medical camp in the presence of Mushiri, Head of Medical commission, Dr K C Chacko, P N Baburajan ICBF president and other community leaders.

 

During the event ICBF presented an award to Dr K C Chacko for the long term service he rendered to the community through noble benevolent initiatives and for actively participating in ICBF events. Ambassador P Kumaran presented the award to Dr Chacko and Mushiri presented the certificate of appreciation too.

 

 

The Counseling Center of ICBF that will be operated from the ICBF office at IICC, Thumama was also inaugurated during the function by the Ambassador. A Committee headed by Sameer Hassan Mousa is leading the efforts to coordinate the counseling initiatives, which will provide services to all needy Indian citizens in Qatar including students.

 

The medical camp was conducted with the support of Indian Doctors Club, who provided more than 40 doctors service for the camp led by president Dr Joel and Dr Saibu George. Federation of Indian Nurses in Qatar (FINQ) provided support of nursing staff with more than 30 volunteers. Wellcare Pharmacy was the medical partner of the Camp who provided Free medicines to all needy attendees, Farooq from Wellcare Group led the trained team of pharmacists with free medicine supply.This Medical Camp provided free medical consultation including Orthopedics, ENT, Cardiology, General Medicines etc. and free checking and diagnosis for Hypertension, Diabetics, Cholesterol along with free medicines for around 1500 - Industrial and domestic workers.

 

During the camp, ICBF provided opportunities to student volunteers to experience volunteering for such benevolent activities and Birla Public School, Shantiniketan Indian School and MES Indian School send their students along with teachers to be part of the camp volunteers.

 

Karnataka Sangha Qatar, ICC affiliated socio cultural organization has extended the support and snacks for the workers.

 

The camp was led by Senthil Athiban Head of Medical Camp of ICBF and Managing Committee members Nivedita Kelkar and Subramanyan Hebbaglu along with other managing Committee members including vice president Mahesh Gowda, general secretary Avinash Gaikwad and AO leaders of ICBF.
