Mangaluru, 28 Nov: The annual feast of Our Lady of Remedy parish, Kirem, near Kinnigoli, here was held with utmost religious fervor on Wednesday, November 27.
Bishop Emeritus Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza concelebrated the festal Eucharistic Celebration along with many clergies on Wednesday morning.
In his homily Dr D’Souza said that Kirem church is the ancient parish that was saved from plunder of Tipu Sultan’s by the erstwhile local royals who are descendants of Bunts community. It stood by the troubled times sustaining the Catholic faith who endured the brutalities.
The descendants of royals were felicitated as per the custom since centuries on the occasion.
A large number of devotees regardless of caste, creed and faith were present through the festal celebrations.
