Mangaluru, 26 Oct: MSNM Besant Institute of Post Graduate Studies hosted the latest edition of the Manel Srinivas Nayak Knowledge Series with a talk by Dr. P.S. Harsha, Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru on Friday, October 25, 2019. The distinguished IPS officer spoke on the topic "Role and Responsibilities of Students in Assisting Police in Developing a Peaceful Society."

 

The programme was held at ’Swarna Academy Hall’ in MSNM Institute campus at Bondel in the city at 3:00 P. M. Nearly 250 students of the institute and other colleges listened to the oration with rapt attention.

 

Addressing the young audience, Dr. Harsha said: “Youth can alter the destiny of the country. Always aim high. Aiming low is a crime.  Beat your constraints; get out of your comfort zone to achieve your goals. Build your capacity to dream. Inculcate a healthy competition.”

 

 

Coming to the main theme of his talk of students assisting police for peaceful society, he cautioned the students to be stay away from drugs and urged them to be alert and inform on such activities to the police. “Be alert on unclaimed objects and be careful with movements of unidentified people. Use social media to inform the police,” he advised.

 

Touching upon the aspirations of the management students, Dr. Harsha impelled them to cultivate entrepreneurial zeal and think of venturing into their own business. Advising them to be inspired by positive role models, he said, “Dakshina Kannada has contributed great leaders to the world like Indra Nooyi and K. V. Kamath. Similarly you too can become the flag bearers of the country if you own up our responsibilities as good citizens. Feel proud in your culture, tradition and being Indian.”

 

Later he interacted with the students, clarified their doubts and answered their questions. Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, Director, MSNM Besant Institute, Mr. Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, President of WNES, Mr. Manel Annappa Nayak, Vice President, Mr. K. Devanand Pai, Secretary, management members Mr. Nagar Narayan Shenoy and Mr. Satish Bhat were present on the occasion.

 

Ms. Payal welcomed the gathering. Ms. Vaishali led to the invocation. Ms. Apoorva Kini delivered the vote of thanks. Ms. Shibony compeered the programme.
