Mangaluru: Irene Rebello chosen to confer Carvalho Family - 15th Kalaakar Puroskar

Mangaluru, 25 Oct: Konkani litterateur Irene Rebello (D’Cunha) was chosen by Mandd Sobhann to confer 15th Kalaakar Puroskar that was instituted by Karvalho Family of Goa.
Sandesha Pratistan director Fr Francis Assisi D’Almeida will confer 15th Kalaakar Puroskar during 215th Monthly Theater at Kalaangann, Makale, here on Sunday, November 3 at 6.00pm.
Irene has been striving to promote Konkani Vovyo Verse, Sangeet programme in Mangalorean weddings by organizing workshops in different places of undivided DK district since the past 15 years. She has formed a dedicated group to sing Konkani folklore in Mangalorean rose events. She has authored 2 books after extensive research on folklore. She is active in many associations.
The Puroskar comprises cash award of Rs 25,000, memento, citation letter and public honor.
Alwyn – Arun Danti brothers will present Konkani live musical concert, Bindaas 2.0 during 215th Monthly Theater at Kalaangann, here on Sunday evening.

Goan linguistic expert Fr Dr Pratap Naik instituted Kalaakar Puroskar on behalf of Carvalho Family, in collaboration with Mandd Sobhann in 2005, in order to acknowledge the contribution of individuals from Karnataka, in music, theater, dance, folklore and Konkani culture.
