Man drowns while saving kids, friend hang self

Mangalore, 06 June 2011: A Good Samaritan met a watery grave after he rescued two boys from possible drowning at Moodushedde on Sunday, June 5, 2011. The deceased, Vinoo alias Vinod Raj (24), was an electrician from Vaidyanatha Nagar, Pacchanady. Unable to bear Vinoo’s death, his friend Dinesh (26) alias Jagadish, committed suicide at home by hanging himself from the roof of the house. 

 

Kavoor police said two children, Roshan and Sushan, both 15 years old, were playing in a boat secured near the Moodushedde dam and due to the strong winds it got detached and started moving into the waters. When the boys started screaming for help, Raj jumped into the waters and pushed the boat to the side, but drowned as he was too tired to come out of the water. Dinesh, a driver, who was with Vinoo all this time, unable to bear the loss, went home and committed suicide, police said.
