Secular Franciscan Order of Udupi Deanery celebrates Feast of their Patron Saint at Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 05 Oct: The Secular Franciscan Order of Udupi  Deanery celebrated the feast of their patron Saint, St. Francis of Assisi at St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle on Saturday, 5 October 2019 with holy mass and stage programme. Around 200 members from different parishes included in the Udupi Deanery participated in the celebration.

 

Following the registration and breakfast from 9.30 am, Fr. Francis Furtado(OFM Cap) gave spiritual discourse on the theme “How the Secular Franciscan members can follow the path shown by St. Francis of Assisi”.

 

The solemn feast mass was concelebrated by Fr. Charles Furtado(OFM Cap)-Director of Assisi Nilaya, Kattingeri as the chief celebrant along with Fr. Clement Mascarenahs-Parish Priest of Moodubelle, Fr. Maxim Pinto(OFM Cap)-Spiritual Director of Secular Franciscan Order of Udupi Diocese, Fr. Jason Paes(OFM Cap) and Fr. Francis Furtado (OFM Cap), both from Assisi Nilaya.

 

Fr. Charles Furtado in his homily highlighted the life, teachings and service of St. Francis of Assisi.

 

Soon after the homily six new members were inducted into the Secular Franciscan Order and five members were confirmed into the order.

 

At the end of the holy mass, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas conveyed the greetings of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi to the Capuchin priests and the members of the Secular Franciscan Order.

 

Following the holy mass, a brief stage programme was held in the Parish Auditorium.


 

Fr. Charles Furtado, Fr. Maxim Pinto, Fr. Francis Furtado, Fr. Jason Paes, Fr. Jithesh Castelino-Assistant Parish Priest of Moodubelle, Mrs. Irene Pereira-President of Secular Franciscan Order, Udupi Deanery, Mrs. Irene Lasrado-National Training Expert, Mrs. Latha D’Mello-Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council and Mrs. Ritha Mathais-President of Secular Franciscan Order Moodubelle Unit were on the dais.

 

Following the welcome by Mrs. Irene Pereira, Mrs. Pressy D’Souza-President of Udupi Unit read the report of the activities of the Udupi Deanery Secular Franciscan Order during the last year.

 

Fr. Jason Paes, Mrs. Irene Pereiara, Fr. Jithesh Castelino, Fr. Maxim Pinto and Mrs. Irene Lasrado conveyed their messages based on the life and teachings of St. Francis of Assisi.

 

Mrs. Winny D’Souza-Secretary of Seculr Francsican Order of Udupi Deanery proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Helen D’Souza of Moodubelle, Vice President of Udupi Deanery Secular Franciscan Order compeered the programme.

 

The brothers of Assisi Nilaya presented a skit based on the life and teachings of St. Francis Assisi.
