Mangaluru: Singing competition ‘Cordelcho Thalo’ Organised in Holy Cross Church, Cordel

Mangaluru, 31 Jul: On the occasion of the 75th birthday of Rev. Fr. Victor Machado, Parish Priest of the Holy Cross Church, Cordel, a number of programmes such as Singing Competition, planting of saplings, water harvesting scheme and building houses for needy persons were organized in the parish on Sunday, 28 July 2019. Soon after the morning mass, many parishioners conveyed birthday greetings to Fr. Victor Machado.

 

As a part of the 75th Birthday Celebration of Fr. Victor Machado, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement ICYM), Cordel unit organised ‘Cordelso Thalo’-Konkani Singing Competition for all the Cordel parishinors on Sunday, 28 July 2017 at Frad Said Hall. The event began with Inaugural program at 3 PM. The members of ICYM lead the prayer service. 

 

Rev Fr. Victor Machado, Vicar of Cordel, Asst Parish Priest Fr. Lawrence Cutinho, Resident Priest Fr. Ashwin Cardoza, Loy Noronha and Sathurnine Monteiro, Vice President and Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council graced the occasion. Dr Prashanth Raj Lobo, Frank Sequiera, Mrs Preethi Lopez, the three judges of the event were present for the inaugural programme.

 

Ms Valeny, Ms Nisha and Ms Ruveena introduced the judges. Ms Ashel D’Silva compered the programme.

 

The singing competition was conducted in 16 categories. Around 150 singers participated in the event. It was fun filled event for music lovers and was appreciated by judges and participants.

 

Later ICYM members celebrated the 75th birthday of Fr Victor Machado, Vicar of Cordel parish. The judges were falicitated with token of gratitude with momentos and plant saplings for their valuable time and judgement. Ms Anisha D’Souza, Sports Secretary read the list of winners. Ms Sonal Monteiro compered the concluding ceremony.
