New Delhi, 14 May: Private weather forecaster Skymet on Tuesday said that the south-west monsoon would hit the Kerala coast on June 4.

The onset date comes with the error margin of two days on either side.

The monsoon was likely to enter the Andaman sea around May 22, said Air Vice Marshall G P Sharma (rtd), president, meteorology and climate change at Skymet.

India Meteorological Department is yet to announce the onset date.

The government weather bureau last month announced that the monsoon would be near normal with 96% average rainfall.

In April Skymet said India would receive 93%/average rainfall.

Skymet also released its region wise estimates in which it claimed peninsular India will receive 95% of average rainfall.
