Mangaluru: Tulu inscription belonging to Alupa I ruler Kulshekara unearthed at Veera Narayana temple

Mangaluru, 23 Feb: A tablot with the ancient inscription in Tulu script unearthed at Veera Narayana temple, Kulshekara, here. It dates back to the reign of Alupa I dynasty Kulshekar that lays ground for further studies into Tulu and its distinct culture.

 

 

It belongs to circa February 10, 1159. Professor T Murugeshi, head of department of history and archeology, MSRS College, Shirva, Udupi led the researcher Prof Vignaraj, Tulu – Sanskrit veteran of SDM Cultural Research Centre, Dharmasthala and history students of the College along with religious endowment officials in Mangaluru unearthed this significant historical find that will serve as solid proof for the struggle to include Tulu in the eighth schedule of Indian constitution.
