Udupi/M’Belle: Year of the Youth 2019 and Newly Built Stage Inaugurated During New Year Eve Service

Udupi/M’Belle, 01 Jan: New Year’s eve marked the inauguration of Year of the Youth 2019 and the newly built stage at St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle. The Eucharistic celebration was preceded by an hour of adoration led by Rev Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, the Assistant Parish Priest. The entire faithful parishioners joined the adoration thanking Almighty God for all the abundant blessings showered on them and to the all the activities of the parish. 

 

Following the Holy Hour of Adoration, the Holy Eucharistic celebration was observed with great devotion and reverence. The Holy Mass began with the grand procession of the ICYM and YCS youth of the St. Lawrence parish to the altar. The Logo for the Year of the Youth 2019 was unveiled by Rev.Fr Clement Mascarenhas along with the ICYM president Joswin D’Mello, ICYM Deanery President  Wilton, YCS Deanery President Deril D’sa and YCS Moodubelle Unit President Lenisa D’Souza. The motto of this year is ’Accompaniment of the church in the life journey of young people’

 

The solemn New Year Eve Mass at 8 pm was concelebrated by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest of Moodubelle, Fr. Raymond and Fr. John Baptist from Allahabad Diocese, Fr. Roman-Rector of Diocesan Minor Seminary and Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest of Moodubelle who was the chief celebrant.

 

In his homily, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas highlighted the importance of three significant aspects of the beginning of the New Year. Firstly,, the feast of the Mother Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ, secondly the new beginning of the New Year and thirdly the launch of the Year of the Youth. He emphasized the role of Mother Mary in our lives, she is the Heavenly Mother of each and every person in this world and like our earthly mother she loves us the most and always intercedes for our needs. He also highlighted that youth are the strong pillars of the family, the parish and the entire community. Parents and elders play a very important role in shaping the future of the youths. The role of the parents is more important as they should become the role models to their children. Fr. Clement further said that it is important for each and every member to build the family through prayers, love for each other and specially highlighted the love of Mother Mary in our lives. He mentioned that the youth should stay together United and then they will be able to build bridges of love, affection, concern to each other, empathy, forgiveness and cooperation so that the parish community may stay united and strengthened.

 

 

After the Eucharistic celebration there was a short celebration of the year of the youth where all the ICYM and YCS members of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle joined together with parishioners.

 

The newly built stage was inaugurated by Rev Fr. Clement Mascarenhas along with Rev Fr. Lawrence Cutinha Assistant Parish Priest, Vincent Fernandes, Vice President of the Parish Council, Mrs. Latha D’Mello Secretary, ICYM and YCS Animators, ICYM and YCS presidents.

 

Fr Clement appreciated the contribution of ICYM Unit members of Moodubelle for the stage and Cyprian Lobo, USA.

 

During this occasion, Ms. Hazel Martis introduced Ms. Ancita Oshin D’Souza ICYM member. She was felicitated for securing the 10th Rank in B.Com from Mangalore University and a Gold Medal in Accountancy. Deril D’Sa, YCS member who had been elected as Udupi Deanery YCS President and also being elected as the NEXCO (National Executive Committee Member) member representing Karnataka State at the National level was also felicitated. Glen Rebello gave a brief introduction about Deril.

 

The YCS youths Ms. Melissa D’Souza, Joyce Fernandes, Riya Saldanha, Vinth Roy and Ethan Martis gave a mesmerizing dance performance.

 

The entire celebration came to an end with the housie housie game well conducted by the YCS members and compeered by Ms Hazel Martis.
