High alert sounded as Netravati River crosses danger mark

Bantwal, 17 Aug 2018: The district administration sounded high alert as Netravati River exceeded danger mark on Thursday, August 16. The water level reached 10.6 meters that was 8 meters on Wednesday, August 15 night.
The authorities of A M R Power were releasing excess water from their dam by opening the crest gates that caused floods in low-lying areas, resulting in flooding plantations and houses. The electricity supply was disrupted as several electric poles were damaged including transformers.
Gruel centers were set up in circuit house for the people affected by floods.
Tahsildar Purandar Hegde led revenue officer Rama Katipalla, revenue inspector Shiva Naik, Sadashiv Kaikamba, Sundar, Sheetal, Shivaprasad, Yashoda, deputy Tahsildar Rajesh Naik and others visited the flood affected areas and are monitoring the situation.
