Dubai: Lancy Nite with songs, music, dance and comedy provides wholesome entertainment

Dubai, 07 May 2011: It was a night to remember and cherish as the mesmerizing Lancy Nite with melodious songs and music, thrilling dance numbers and rib-tickling jokes and comedy provided wholesome entertainment to a large audience in –Sheikh Rashid Auditorium -Dubai on Friday, April 6, 2011 from 6.00 pm to 10 pm.
Singer and musician, Lancy Noronha’s 27-year-old dream of organizing his own musical nite became a reality after a long wait. Entrepreneur, Konkani enthusiast, singer and managing director, Merit Freight Systems LLC, Joseph Mathias’ unstinted support in organizing this event under Shylan’s banner was much appreciated by the gathering.
The show was organized as a tribute to the late Ivan Noronha, who was a famous singer from Bellore who inspired Lancy to start his singing career. Singers from Dubai, Mangalore, as well as Mumbai, performed at the event. Music for the programme was arranged by Remiro Mascarenhas, who is very popular both among Goans and Mangaloreans.
The event started with some of the finest dances by the children from Ocean Kids, They danced for four of the Hindi medleys and later, the children from Golden Talents Music Centre performed Indian classical dance, which was brilliant.
The musical programme started with a prayer song by Lancy and his group which was supported by Ocean Kids with their beautiful dance. Next came the bouquet of two lively songs-‘Ulo...’ by Reshma Cutinho Anjelore , which was followed by Wilfy Nite fame, Prem Kumar’s foot tapping `Nach-go Baye’.This was followed by the first instalment of jokes by the comic duo- Jerry and Duje.
In the first half of the programme, Lancy Noronha presented a solo song titled `Fabella’, while Joseph Mathias sang `Annachi’. The husband and wife duo of Lancy and Shyna presented `Mumma’. Rony Lobo from Abu Dhabi sang `Mai’. Lenita Noronha’s `Sobhit Fula’ was soothing to the ears, while Yash Pinto, Sharjah, mesmerized the crowd with his attractive voice, singing `Sakallim Udthana’.
Lancy Noronha sang the touching tribute song in honour of late Ivan Noronha. Other songs included: ‘Vande Matharam’-rendered very well by a group of singers including Joseph, Prem, Lancy,Rony, Shyna, Lanita, Reshma and Jerina. ‘Tribute – Sophia’ was paid by Joseph Mathias with his fine voice. Dony and Asha presented ‘Gupith Mog..’, Joseph, Lancy, Shyna and Lanita sang the beautiful song ‘Nekethr Udelam..’, Mario Rego-‘Mangloor Shahara..’, Zarina and Shyna rendered ‘Sadham Sakalim..’, Lancy Noronha sang ‘Nadar...’ and ‘Kadadha Punni...’ in Tulu Language, Vincent and Lancy presented ‘Suzanna..’ and Vinodh sang ‘Paarkanthlo Mog..’
At regular interval Jerry and Duje entertained the audience with their choicest jokes and Kenny Zuzarte also presented his hilarious songs in between. He made everyone to dance to his “Musumbi” number.
During the occasion Joseph Mathias, managing director, Merit Freight Systems LLC, was felicitated. He was draped with a shawl and decorated with a traditional turban by Melvyn Rodrigues. Shobha Mendonca, Reliable Fabricators LLC Dubai, presented flowers and fruits’ basket and Dayan D’Souza presented a memento. Shyna Noronha presented a citation.
In his address, Melvyn Rodrigues made a mention of the late Ivan Noronha’s contribution to Konkani music, and also applauded Joseph Mathias for supporting this event, particularly his gesture of encouraging young talents from Dubai and India.
Dayan D’Souza released a booklet containing Lancy Noronha’s songs on this occasion. Arthur Pereira’s musical album, `Pani Pani Barsa’, was released by Harish Sherigar, ACME Building Materials and Trading LLC. Shodhan Prasad was present on the dais along with Arthur Pereira.
Joseph Mathias proposed vote of thanks. He gratefully recollected the support extended by all the sponsors and well wishers. Francis Fernandes Cascia, felicitated Jerry Rasquinha, Joseph Pinto, Kenny Zuzarte, Prem Kumar and Remiro Mascarenhas on the occasion. Joseph Mathias felicitated Lancy and Shyna Noronha.
While Uttam Menezes was the master of ceremony for the entire musical show , while Roshan D’Silva compered the stage programme.
