Udupi: Citizens play key role in democracy – ZP CEO Shivanand

Udupi, 16 Apr 2018: The citizens play key role in democratic country because each one is bestowed with right to vote for a suitable candidate of his/her choice. Its effect is realized in different sphere of life. It’s our duty to be sensible in voting our choicest candidate for better governance. The electioneering is the focal point of democracy, said Udupi ZP CEO and district SWEEP nodal officer Shivanand Kapashi.

 

Shivanand was speaking after inaugurating voters awareness and demonstration of VVPAT that was organized by Kaup taluk working journalists Association in collaboration with Sri Madwa Vadiraja Technical and Management Institute, Bantakal, near here, on Monday, April 16.

 

 

Udupi district information officer Rohini was the chief guest of the occasion, said that Yakshagana, walkathon, music and other forms of attractions are widely utilized in creating voters awareness that is themed Active participation for stronger democracy. She appealed the students to caste their franchisee on voting day and not to skip for other reasons.

 

Ratnakumar, secretary of Sode Vadiraja Education Trust and Udupi district working journalists Association president Ganesh Prasad Pandelu also spoke on the occasion.

 

Sri Madwa Vadiraja Technical and Management Institute principal Professor Tirumaleshwar Bhat administered the voters’ oath-taking.

 

Kaup taluk working journalists Association president K Prakash Suvarna presided the programme and delivered the preliminary address. The secretary Karunakar Nayak proposed vote of thanks.

 

Kundapura BEO and state resource person Ashok Kamat demonstrated VVPAT and voters awareness campaign.

 

The state resource person Joseph Rebello, Udupi TP manager K G Ramdas were present.

 

The senior journalist B Pundalika Marate Shirva compered the programme. Chinmayee rendered the prayers.

 

Over 600 students participated in the programme.
