Udupi: Bone Density and Obesity Checkup Camp organized at St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 13 April 2018: The Heath Commission and Women’s Commission of St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle along with Mayor Polaris Company conducted  two days long Bone Density and Obesity Checkup Camp at the Church Aided Higher Primary School Hall on 12 and 13 April 2018.

 

The Bone Density and Obesity Checkup Camp was inaugurated on Thursday, 12 April 2018 at 9.30 am. Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest presided over the inaugural function. Prakash Andrade-Convener of Health Commission of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi who helped in organizing the camp, Madhav Upadhyaya-Sales Representative of Mayor Polaris Company, Mrs. Monica D’Souza-Coordinator of 18 Commissions of St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle, Mrs. Precilla Alva-Convener of Health Commission and Mrs. Gretta Fernandes-Convener of Women’s Commission were on the dais.

 

The camp was formally inaugurated by the dignitaries on the dais by lighting the lamp.

 

In his introductory remarks, Prakash Andrade explained that with passing age the bones in the body undergo changes due to lack of calcium and other nutrients. Deficiency of calcium leads to brittleness of the bones resulting in osteoporosis. Hence, the measurement of bone density and obesity is important so that remedial measures can be taken in order to lead healthy and happy life.

 

 

Fr. Lawrence Cutinha complimented Health and Women’s Commissions for organizing the Bone Density and Obesity Checkup Camp so that the parishioners can get an opportunity to find out the health of their bones and take precautionary measures to prevent osteoporosis.

 

Mrs. Gretta Fernandes welcomed the guests and the gathering. Mrs. Precilla Alva proposed the vote of thanks and  Mrs.Ainis Castelino compeered the programme.

 

There was great response to the camp from the parishioners of Moodubelle. During the two days, altogether 145 men and women took advantage of the Bone Density and Obesity Checkup Camp.
