Udupi: Deanery level Way of the Cross observed with devotion at Kuntlanagar

Udupi, 19 Mar 2018: Udupi Deanery level Way of the Cross was observed with devotion at St. Antony’s Church, Kuntlanagar on Sunday, 18 March. A large number of devotees from different parishes of the Deanery participated with devotion in this spiritual exercise.

 

The service in the church commenced at 3 pm with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Fr. Denis D’Sa, Parish priest of St. Antony’s Church, Kuntalnagar and OPRO of Udupi Diocese, in his introductory remarks highlighted the significance of the spiritual observation of the day.

 

Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Uudpi, Dean of Uudpi Deanery and Chancellor of Udupi Diocese concelebrated the Holy Mass along with other priests.

 

Fr. Chetan Lobo (OFM Cap), Editor of “Uzwaad” in his homily pointed out the significance of the sacrifice and suffering in life in order to achieve something important such as athletes and sportsmen and women who train themselves with determination to win medals in various sporting events such as Olympics. He referred to the sacrifice, sufferings and death of Jesus Christ which earned eternal salvation to the entire humankind.

 

 

Soon after the Holy mass, the Way of the Cross was conducted by Fr. Chetan Lobo in the premises of the Kuntlanagar church in front of 14 Stations of the Cross specially erected at the periphery of the premises.

 

At the end of the Way of the Cross, Fr. Valerian Menodnca gave his Lenten Message. Fr. Denis D’Sa proposed the vote of thanks. Priests and religious as well as a large number of people from nine parishes of the Deanery participated devoutly in this unique spiritual exercise.
