Karkala: India Post to release postage stamp to commemorate St Lawrence Basilica

Karkala, 11 Jan 2018: Indian postal department will release special postage and post cover to commemorate St Lawrence Minor Basilica at Attur, here, on January 18. The postage stamp of Rs 5 bearing the pic of St Lawrence and Basilica will be available at all post offices.

Pope Francis announced the elevation of St Lawrence Shrine into St Lawrence Basilica on January 26, 2016.  The historical event was celebrated amidst thousands of worshippers on August 10, 2016.

 

The postal department will release the postage and post cover during a function attended by Udupi bishop Dr Gerald Lobo at St Lawrence Basilica, Attur, here, on January 18 at 12.00pm.
