Don Bosco English Medium School Shirva Celebrates Deepawali

Shirva, 29 Oct 2017: “A lamp emits such a light that makes the path bright. Dispelling the darkness around and showing the right path”.
The atmosphere on the 27th of October was full of mirth, colour and lights at the Don Bosco English Medium School at Shirva. The reason for the joy was Deepawali celebration in the school wherein all children from class one to ten attended along with teachers in a festive mood. The celebration started at 2.30 in the afternoon with a prayer song. To symbolise the festival of lights, a row of earthen lamps was first lit by the Principal Rev. Fr. Mahesh D’ Souza followed by the staff and class representatives. The importance of Deepawali was conveyed by Pranamya Tantry.
During the celebration, a skit on the awareness of the ill-effects of fire crackers on the health and why we must ban fire crackers was enacted by the boys of class 7. Two dances to enhance the joy of the festival was performed by the primary and high school girls.
An appropriate Diwali message was conveyed by the Principa Fr. Mahesh on this auspicious occasionl. He said the festival of Deepawali is not only celebrated by Hindus, but all the religions as all need to kindle a lamp, within ourselves in our hearts. The internal light should enable us to be a good human. He wished all the students A Very Happy Diwali. He thanked all staff members and students for making this celebration a colourful and bright.
Student Vaibhav proposed the Vote of Thanks while Anson Nazareth compeered the programme.
