Mangaluru: Red Cross orientation-eye donation awareness held at NUINS

Mangaluru, 27 Oct 2017: Youth Red Cross unit of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences (NUINS), constituent College of Nitte University organized an orientation-cum-eye donation programme at K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, here, on Thursday, October 26.

 

M K Krishna, state convener of eye donation sub-Committee of Indian Red Cross Society and chairman of Eye Bank Association of India – south zone delivered the keynote address with motivational message to the youth on service to society. He inspired the students quoting that commitment is the richest gift in life and urged the youth to make eye donation a family tradition.

 

 

It was followed by an awareness talk on importance of eye, bone marrow, organ and cadaver donation blended with practical experiences and experiments.

 

Dr Vijay Pai, head of department of ophthalmology, in his presidential address discussed on the functioning of the Eye Bank unit of K S Hegde Charitable Hospital.

 

Professor Dr Fatima D’Silva, principal, NUINS welcomed the gathering. Professor Sabita Nayak, vice principal of NUINS proposed vote of thanks.  Latha S, Red Cross co-ordinator compered the programme.
