Karkala: St Joseph’s School, Belman bids adieu to teacher Pundalika Marate

Karkala, 04 Aug 2017: St Joseph’s Higher Primary School, Belman, near here, organized farewell function to bid adieu to teacher B Pundalika Marate, who retired after serving 39 years, here on Wednesday, August 2.
St Joseph’s education institutions correspondent and Belman parish priest Fr Edwin D’Souza in his presidential address lauded the services of Pundalika Marate throughout his teaching career in one-hundred-twenty-one-year-old education institution. He was instrumental in increasing the students strength in their Kannada medium school.
The Alma Mater president Xavier D’Mello said Pundalika Marate was a excellent compere, resource person and involved in social welfare activities through Rotary Club.
Mangaluru diocesan Catholic Board of Education past secretary and Bejai parish priest Fr Wilson D’Souza, Mukhamar parish priest Fr Louis D’Sa, the former correspondent and Ucchila parish priest Fr Lawrence Rodrigues also recalled their association with multifaceted Pundalika.
Belman parish council former presidents Gregory Menezes and Sylvester D’Mello, NITK retired Professor Robert D’Souza, Belman gram panchayat president Mallika Rao, TP member Asha Devendra Shetty, Rotary Club – Belman president Devendra Shetty, Lions Club president Prakaschandra, JCI president Raviraj Shetty, past school head teacher Sr Monica Monteiro, convent superior Sr Usha Stella, Belman gram panchayat member Prabhakar Shetty were present at the dais.
Pundalika began his teaching career at Bantakal School where he had served 23 years, at Hirgan School, where he had served seven-and-a-half-years and retired after serving St Joseph’s School, Belman, for nine-years.
He also honored his Class I retired teacher 80-year-old Leelavati Laxminarayan Patkar and 88-year-old retired Bantakal temple celebrant Vedamurti K Vedavysaraya Bhat on the same occasion.

Congratulations to Mr. Pundalika Marate for a worthy send off as he retired officially from his profession witnessed by great personalities. I know Mr. Marate since 1977 as an active leader and Rotarian motivating people to do constructive work. I wish all the best for Mr. Pundalika Marate. May God bless him. |
