Udupi: Christian Zilla & Taluk Panchayth Candidates Felicitated

Udupi, 28 March 2011: About 13 Christian Candidates who contested in the recently held Zilla and Taluk Panchayth Elections were falicitated  on Sunday 27th  March 2011 at 3.30 pm in the Don Bosco Hall Udupi by International  Federation of Karnataka Christian Association Udupi Unit. Mr. Michael Rodrigues Sastan compeered the program.

 

The programme was presided over by Mr. Jerry Vincent Dais President of Udupi District Builders Association. The guests of hounor were Rev. Dr. Baptist Menezes - Episocpal Vicar of Udupi District, Rev. Lawrence David Crasta - Vicar General and Correspondent of St. Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Cathedarl Brahmavar.

 

The programme began with the prayer by Julian Danthy, following Mr. Louis Lobo organizer of IFKCA welcomed the guests on the dais who were presented with flowers by Mr. Boniface D’Souza and Mr. Charls Ambler. The 13 candidates who had contested the Zilla and Taluk Panchayth were hounoured by Mr. Jerry Vincent Dais and Rev. Baptist Menezes by presenting them shawls and Memento.

 

In his Felicitation address  to the candidates Fr. David Crasta complimented all the candidates for their effort in contesting the Zilla and Taluk Panchayth elections and appealed to the winners to work, in their area for the benefit of needy people. On behalf winning candidates Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, Mrs. Veronica Cornelio, Mrs. Roshani Olivera, and on behalf of defeated candidates Mrs. Lilly Castelino expressed their feelings of gratitude and happiness towards the IFKCA for organizing the felicitation for them.

 

 

Rev. Fr. Baptist Menezes in his respective message congratulated and encouraged the members. Mr. Jerry Vincent Dais in his presidential address encouraged all the winners and wished good luck to others in the next election and also told more Christians should enter politics field. He assured all type of support to Christian candidates in the next election.

 

The felicitated members are : Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza Moodubelle, Mr. Xavier D’Mello Belman, Mrs. Veroncia Carnelio Uppoor, Roshani Olivera Irody, Mr. N.K. Joseph Yedthere, Mr. Henry Alva Moodubelle, Mrs. Precilla D’Mello Shankarpura, Mrs. Lilly Castelino Shankarpura, Mrs Lilly D’Souza Mudarangadi, Mrs. Jenevive D’Souza Bailoor, Mrs. Stella Ida D’Souza Shirva, Mrs. Jacintha Mable D’Souza Shirva.

 

Dr. Neri Corenelio Secretary of IFKCA proposed the vote of Thanks.

Good to see more Christians joining the politics. More Christian representation in politics is required to have a proper balance and to protect the rights. Hope this good gesture by International Federation of Karnataka Christian Association Udupi Unit recognizing these candidates will encourage them to serve the community to their best ability.
