Udupi: Int’l Conference on Impact of Global Issues at Manipal from Jan 9 to 12

Udupi, 08 Jan 2017: Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), Manipal, here will be organizing an international conference as part of endowment research chair with the leadership of Dr Basanti Majumdar, Professor of Emeritus McMaster University, Canada and Dr Anice George, Dean, MCON Manipal, at Dr TMA Pai Auditorium, here from Monday, January 9 to Thursday, January 12.

 

Udupi ZP CEO Priyanka Mary Francis will inaugurate the conference here on Monday morning.

 

The conference will be held in collaboration with 24 institutions, both national and international from 14 countries, will be attended by about 450 delegates from across the globe. The theme for the Conference is, “Impact of Global Issues on Women and Children”. The theme is to encourage health care professionals to initiate various activities to promote the global health of women and children.

 

Fifteen international and three national speakers will share their knowledge on topics related to global issues on women and children including: lessons learned from global disasters (flood, Tsunami and earthquake), impact of violence/war/terrorism on children and women, biological health issues,  empowerment of children and women, HIV/AIDS/Tuberculosis: children and women, prevention/rehabilitation: physical and mental health of children and women, adolescent male/female issues and depression (chronic illness, societal barriers, aging).

 

The conference also includes ‘chat session’ on various issues which will be conducted by the eminent leaders with the view to develop networking, to enhance professional progress, and to share the expert knowledge in the field. It is a platform to exchange the scientific knowledge and there are around 160 researchers sharing their knowledge in the form of scientific papers and posters.

 

Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), a constituent institution of Manipal University, Manipal was established in 1990 and today is one of the leading nursing education institutions in the country. It has strived to achieve its mission, ‘Excellence in nursing education, health care services, research and commitment to human development’. Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal was one of the four nursing colleges in the country to be recognized by the Singapore Nursing Board. ‘In 2012 this college was ranked third in the country in a survey by The Week.’ The College gets these recognition out of 1438 INC recognized Nursing Colleges in India.
