KRV activists demand irrigation officials to clear rotten trees from Dindottu dam

Udupi, 26 Jun 2016: The activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) urged the irrigation department officials to clear the rotten trees that are blocking the crest gates of a dam located at Dindottu, in the limits of Moodubelle gram panchayat, near here on Saturday June 25.
The rotten trees are accumulated on south side of the dam since several years that has been blocking the flow of water during monsoon. As a result, the water from dam floods the nearby farmlands damaging crops. At the backdrop of same situation is likely to occur during this monsoon as more rains are expected, KRV district president Santosh Shety Panjimar along with the local peasants urged irrigation department engineer S T Gowda to clear the pile of trees and save the crop from flooding.
The irrigation department assured Santosh and local farmers Raghu Shetty, Arun Shetty, Jaya Devadiga, Prakash Shetty, Vasant Devadiga, Charles, Nalini Shetty, farm laborers Karna Shetty, Baby, Laxmi, Susheela, Appy and Janaki that the piled up stock of rotten trees will be cleared at the earliest.
