Mangalore: Curtains down to the exciting Beach Utsav

Panamboor, 24 January 2011: The three day Beach Utsav organized at Panamboor Beach on the occasion of Karavali Utsav had come to an end on Sunday night with maximum people participating in it. Since it was holiday on Sunday the programs were organized on the whole day. Floods of people were flowing into the Utsav.
With so many colourful kites flying, the sky was looking like a beautiful painting. As the sun was setting in the evening and as the cultural shows were entertaining, people young and the old were all gathered to witness this fun filled day of entertainment.
Singer Ramdas sang “kadala parbhaye…. kadala parbhaye….” and gave the start to the cultural program. Singer Pratheeksha sang wecome song “theredide mane oh bha athithi”. The next song was by Mithili Pai. Senior singer Ganesh Nayak who sang, said “fantastic audience” to the gathered.
Movie singers Rajesh Krishnan and Chaitra along with their troupe gave the “Rasamanjari” program. The dance competition finals by the chosen five participants were followed. In the morning Prasad Karpade from Pune performed “Udayaraga” Hindustani music. Later sand sculptures, scatting, boat race and other programs took place.
Speaking to the media Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav said that there has been fantastic response from the people. In the coming years we shall carry out the Utsav in a grander manner and also the duration shall be reviewed.
Vendors made a good profit by selling the kites. Varieties of kites of various colours were on for sale with a price from Rs. 40 to 100. Food stalls, Ice cream vans, Toys for children, Pop corn, Belpuri all these made good business. Camel riding was also going on in a full swing.
People from all the neighbouring districts and even people from other states and foreigners too had come to this Karavali Utsav. It was full of fun, food and entertainment.
