Fr. Francis Assisi, a diocesan priest bagged the Gold Medal in the LLB exam

Moodubelle, 20 January 2010: Fr. Francis Assisi Almeida a Priest of the diocese of Mangalore has secured Gold Medal in LL.B (3 years) examination conducted by the Mangalore University for the year 2009. Very Rev. Fr. Mathew Vas, the Parish Priest of Udupi church congratulated and honoured Fr. Francis Assisi on January 13, 2010 after the morning Sunday Mass.

Fr. Francis Assisi is hailing from Padukone Parish of Kundapur Taluk. He is the youngest son among Six Children of Mr. George and Mrs. Sophia D’ Almeida. After his early studies, he joined the Minor seminary in the year 1991 and did his PUC studies from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore and completed his degree in BA from St. Philomena College at Puttur.

He was ordained in the year 2004 and served as an Assistant Parish priest at Bejai for 2 years. He joined Vaikunta Baliga College of Law at Udupi for LL.B studies in the Year 2006 and also served as an Assistant Parish priest at Milagres Church, Kallianpur.  During his final year studies he resided at Udupi as a resident Priest. While studying in the College, from the first semester onwards he used to bag all the endowment prizes allotted for the subjects leaving no other students to secure it. As he himself says that the hard work and the prayer made him to achieve the goal.

Presently he is coordinating and assisting the Christian advocates in the justice Somashekara Commission of Inquiry which has been appointed by the State Government to investigate the attacks taken place in various places of worship and Churches in Karnataka State on 14th and 15th September 2008.
