Bangalore: Party MPs may boycott talks with CM

New Delhi/Bangalore, 01 December 2010: A section of the Bharatiya Janata Party MPs from Karnataka is likely to boycott a hurriedly convened  meeting by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday morning.

 

Yeddyurappa arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday evening to meet the MPs apparently to discuss party affairs and other issues.  However, Bijapur Lok Sabha Member Ramesh Jigajinagi  told Deccan Herald: “I have received the invitation. However, I will not attend it.

 

“I am not happy with the developments in the State. Though I have  advised the chief minister to set things right, nothing has changed. Then what is the use of attending such meetings?” Though the chief minister’s office in New Delhi said it was a routine meeting,  sources noted that Yeddyurappa may seek the support of party MPs in his fight against Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and his family.

 

Some party MPs have said that the chief minister should concentrate more on administration than in muckraking. When Yeddurappa was summoned by the party to New Dehi to get his explanation on land scam recently, only 18 of the  24 party MPs from the State supported his continuance as chief minister.

 

On Tuesday evening, he surprised all by cancelling his appointments in Bangalore and rushing to New Delhi. The chief minister completed a meeting with farmers  at his home office “Krishna” and left for Bangalore International Airport to board a 7 pm flight to New Delhi. Yeddyurappa was accompanied, among others, by his son B Y Raghavendra.
