M’luru: Charitable Christmas Food Fiesta-2014 kick starts with Cooking Competition at Milagres

Mangaluru, 30 Nov 2014: The much eagerly awaited ‘Christmas Food Fiesta-2014’, a charitable event organised by Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh episcopal city deanery began with a Cooking Competitionon Saturday November 29. It’s a two day event was organized for the purpose of building 10 houses for needy families, was off to a grand start.
Mr. M P Noronha an eminent senior advocateinaugurated grand food festival which will end on 30th November 2014.
Addressing the gathering, Noronha said, "This is a meaningful event. There was a time when big families used to reside in small houses. But now houses are big and families are small.
"Food Fiesta will lay a strong foundation for the upcoming Christmas. Let us all join our hands together and raise funds for the needy," he said.
The day one event consisted of Cooking Competition, Magic Show and Cultural events.
The dynamic president, of Catholic Sabha episcopal city deanery Mr.Anil Lobo, briefed about the event and the purpose behind organizing the Christmas Food Fiesta. It was his initiative that saw the success of the grand event of day one and his dream is realized. The valedictory function will be held on 30th November presided by Bishop of Mangalore Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius D’souza. Mr. Frank Fernandes, Managing Director of Mosaco Shipping LLC, Dubai, UAE will be the chief guest.
The day two event will cover the Baby Show Competition, Fancy Fete opening, Food Fest, Cultural Program and Valedictory Function.
In his presidential address Rev Fr J B Crasta, spiritual director, thanked everyone for being part of the initiative to raise funds.
All those participated in the cooking competition were honouredwith participation certificates by Fr J B Crastaand the results of the cooking competition were declared. The winners will be presented with prizes on Sunday during the Valedictory Function.
Earlier, Fr Valerian D’Souza, parish priest of Milagres Church welcomed the guests. Flora Castelino proposed the vote of thanks. Roshal Coelho compered the ceremony.Linnette D’Souza president of Catholic Sabha Milagres and others were also present.
The students of Alva’s College, Moodbidripresented a wonderful cultural dances to the house full audience. Also on the occasion, aspectacular magic show was presented by renowned magician Prof Shankar-Shankar Junior and team.
